Wales/Westpac Ex-PNG/Pacific Staff Reunion

The Bank of NSW first became listed on 18 July 1970. The first branch at Tarawa was opened on 1st October 1970.  The bank also took over the Government Savings Bank. This branch also serviced the people of the Ellice Islands.

In 1972 BNSW established an agency on Betio Islet.  In 1976 the Ellice Islands gained independence and are renamed Tuvalu. The Gilbert Islands gain independence in 1979 to become Kiribati.
